Community Storytelling Projects

Inclusive storytelling builds ownership and trust.

I design and facilitate creative projects that put community voices at the centre of the story. Using participatory and co-designed methods, these initiatives ensure authentic representation and create meaningful engagement.

Applications:

  • Participatory photography

  • Co-designed exhibitions

  • Workshops and creative activations

I bring over a decade of experience designing and delivering creative community engagement projects that connect people with place and story.

In 2011, I was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship to research place-activation storytelling in the US, Canada, and the UK—exploring how first-person narratives and interactive exhibitions can enrich communities and reach new audiences.

This work inspired Chronicle Scarborough, a celebration of Scarborough Beach’s history blending personal memories, artefacts, and sensory experiences. Partnering with the City of Stirling Museum, my team and I brought local history to life through digital storytelling workshops, a caravan ‘story booth’, public events, screenings, a guided digital walking tour, and an online portal. A story I produced from this project, Leopard Skin Bikini, is now on display at the WA Museum Boola Bardip.

More recently, I contributed to Rising Tides: Imagining Coastal Resilience with UWA’s Better Oceans Program, running photo workshops alongside artists in collage and textiles. These sessions sparked meaningful conversations about our changing coastline and shaped the project’s final exhibition and book—an inspiring reflection of storytelling, community, and design.

Other highlights include:

  • Assistant Producer on SBS’s Who Do You Think You Are?, working with archives, museums, and historical collections.

  • Tour Manager for the Making Movies Roadshow, delivering filmmaking workshops and screenings across regional WA.

  • Founding the Indigenous Community Stories project, preserving cultural heritage through professional digital recordings.

  • Serving as ABC Open Producer in the Mid West, engaging audiences in creating and sharing local content.

  • Acting as Oral Historian for the Town of Cambridge, managing and preserving historical collections and oral history archives.

From concept to delivery, I excel at combining storytelling, cultural preservation, and community participation to create projects that resonate, inspire, and leave a legacy.
